Onward to 2020!

Can you believe it is almost 2020? Not only a new year, but a new decade! While writing this post, we’re in the midst of tidying up last-minute details for our first shoot of the year. But we’d be remiss not to spend some time reflecting on all that we accomplished in the past 12 months leading up to this moment — from a major business milestone to an important new hire. For some fun stats, you can check out our end-of-year numbers.

Getting our ducks in a row

In hindsight, 2019 was a big year for internal organization. We recreated our bookkeeping system. We switched up our accounting team, and added a legal team on retainer. We streamlined our CRM and project management with a custom-built workflow. We even added our filth insurance policy to our portfolio. Considering all of the systems and processes we use on a daily basis, it’s incredible to realize that literally nothing is the same now as it was this time last year — and we’re the better for it. All that realignment has helped streamline our business for even more growth, and to serve our clients more efficiently.

Just about a year ago, we earned our Women’s Business Enterprise National Council certification, and we’re proud to support other women-owned businesses whenever and wherever we can — from our collaboration with Chicago coffee roaster Good Manner to create a custom Grey House “Good Morning” roast in partnership with members of The International Women’s Coffee Alliance (IWCA), to serving a selection of teas from Big Heart Tea Co. Even when sourcing gifts while on production in other cities, we’ll read up on and purchase provisions made by hyperlocal makers. 

Leaning into our new look

Last March, we rolled out our new branding designed by the incredibly magical Melissa Yeager — our first major refresh since launching as a business five years prior. As Melissa so aptly described our new logo, “Just as GHP blends hard work with heart, the brand’s badge is a clever fusion of a camera, donut, sunny side up egg, and shining light beams.” We love how our new look pays tribute to our professionalism, our sunny personality, our early-rising nature, and the savvy we bring to every single job. Moving toward growth

If 2019 was all about preparation for growth, then 2020 will be the year of people: growing our people, investing in our people, and focusing on #TeamGreyHouse to make sure we have a team in place to serve our growing client base. Because of everything we’ve put into place in the past year, we’re equipped to serve clients better and faster in 2020. It’s an exciting time, and we’re happy to have you along for the ride.
